Interzum is an international trade fair for suppliers of the furniture industry and interior fittings, which began in 1959, takes place every two years in Cologne. It is regarded as the world’s leading trade fair of the industry and includes materials and components for furniture production and interior design, equipment, materials and components for the production of upholstered furniture and mattresses, cover materials, innovative materials and lighting technology.

Installing Kitchen Cabinet Door Handles

Your new kitchen has been installed and you’ve finally picked out and purchased handles for the cabinets. Now you’re stumped: just how does one go about installing cabinet handles ? You will be pleased to know that all it takes is a few common household tools and that math you hated in high school. Within minutes your cabinets will be gleaming with new hardware, and the best part is you can say “I did by myself.”

Step 1. Measure the Drilling Distance of Handle

Use the tape measure to measure the drilling distance of purchased handles, then keep it in mind or write it down.

Step 2. Mark up the Drilling Points on an Overhead Cupboard Door

Place the template on the bottom corner of the door, opposite the hinges.
Your template has holes for each different cupboard and handle type.
Find the holes that match the combination you have chosen and use a pencil to mark up your drilling points.

Step 3. Drill Holes for the Overhead Door Handle

To check you have marked the drilling points correctly, take your handle and put it next to your pencil marks.
Once everything is lined up, drill holes all the way through the door. Use a slightly wider drill bit than the screws of the door handle.

Step 4. Screw the Handle to the Overhead Cupboard Door

A lot of door handles come with overlong screws. Before screwing the handle to the door, use the nippers to trim the length of the screws. There should be about 5 mm to 7 mm poking through the door. Now screw the top of the handle on, keeping it loose so there’s a bit of wiggle room. Then screw the bottom on tightly, before you tighten up the top.

Step 5. Attach a Handle to a Drawer

Measure and mark up the centre point on the front face of the drawer. Place the template over the centre point and mark out the drilling points that match your cupboards and handles. Check the marks are in the right position, then drill your holes. Trim the screws to size and screw the handle on to the drawer.

Step 6. Attach a Handle to a Lower Cupboard Door

Align the handle posts with the screws and fasten them on with the screwdriver. Do not over tighten as this may strip the screw.
